This vintage envelope is in nice condition although it shows some wear from age and storage which is to be expected. There is nothing inside. It was opened from the back which was sealed by a wax seal. The writing you see on the front left side must have been written on it sometime after it was received. It is to hard to decipher the handwriting of the address as far as the name of the person it was addressed to. It was sent to Marietta Ohio. The postmark is original and dated AUG 4 Cincinnati for 5 cents. It is probably from the 1840's or 1830's because the first postage stamps were issued in 1847.
