SS MEREDITH VICTORY WW II Victory Ship memorial cover with postmark from Raleigh, NC dated November 2, 2007. Color printed cachet #2933 of underway Victory Ship by Alvin Eckert USCS #9964. The merchant cargo ship was built by the California Shipbuilding at Los Angeles, CA in 1945 and launched on June 23, 1945. The ship was named for Meredith College in Raleigh, NC and is among a group of 150 WW II Victory Ships named for American Colleges and Universities. Cover franked with 37 cent WW II Memorial stamp ( Sc# 3862 ) and 3 cent Merchant Marine stamp. Seller has covers for all the US Colleges, Cities and Towns with so named Victory Ships.
