FURMAN VICTORY WW II Victory Ship memorial ship cover with a pictorial postmark from Fort Stanton, New Mexico dated May 28, 2006. Color printed cachet #2321 of underway victory ship by Alvin Eckert USCS #9964. The merchant cargo ship was built by the Kaiser Company at Portland, Oregon, launched on March 6, 1945, and delivered on April 19, 1945. The ship was named for Furman University in Greenville, SC and is part of a group of 150 Victory Ships that were named for US Colleges and Universities. Cover franked with 3 cent Merchant Marine stamp. Seller has covers for all the US Colleges, Cities or Towns with like named Victory Ships. Check out my other items!
