Description

Welcome to an Aviation Collectables item .... About AV600-SP1 2003 Tribute to CONCORDE commemorative cover signed Peter Baker, a former Concorde BAC test pilot Although primarily dealing with military aviation, the chance to produce a cover to commemorate the final bowing out of service of the legendary Concorde could not be missed. We are therefore please to mark the occasion with a visually stunning cover which features full cover artwork giving Concorde pride of place. We have elected to show Concorde in its full splendor during the 1980s coming into land with the characteristic British Airways markings of the period. The scene shows Concorde in a strike pose - nose high and looking quite purposeful. The cover bears 1st Class Gold stamp cancelled with Concorde Coming Home - Final Flight into Filtonn Filton Bristol 26 November 2003 also showing Concorde. Regrettably we were unable to have these flown on the last flight of Concorde so they were flown prior to the final flight. The cover artwork has been painted by artist Ross Wardle, who has produced many superb aviation paintings, including many for Matchbox which were used for their aircraft kits until they dropped out of the market. More recently he has won great praise for his work protraying Formula 1 cars from the 1950s through to present day.
